In response to this post, I received about 30 emails of prospective buyers. Most were ready to buy, sight unseen; $1000 is apparently a good price for a leaky Tiburon. No one seemed to be fazed by the car's poor underwater performances until the following:

Are you sure? It was functioning reasonably well in the shallows. Once the water reached the height of the windows, however, I began noticing leaks. Tiburon does mean shark in Spanish, and my friend assured me it would work... he thought maybe I had faulty ballast? Have you repaired any amphibious cars?

That's what I was expecting! Unfortunately I could not seem to resolve the issue of floating, and was unable to reliably adjust depth (except for downwards). Do you think you could help me fix the car to operate underwater? I think it just needs some caulk. Thank you so much for your advise!

Yes. I am selling mine for $1000. Please see my post on Craigslist.
I got no further response. AOL probably logged him off so he could get a fax.
Can I buy the car? I'll pay in fairy dust.
ReplyDeletebut they really do build amphibious cars: http://www.watercar.com/
